As I was doing my daily internet window shopping, I came upon this dress
on the
Forever 21 website. The dress seemed oddly familiar to me. And I realized I had seen it somewhere before. Then it hit me. It was a dead ringer for this Proenza Schouler bustier dress

from their Target line.
By no means am I criticizing Forever 21 for selling such a dress that is so obviously “inspired” by Proenza Schouler, I for one am all for the designer look for less (being the Thriftychick and all). But it brought to mind the pending law suit Diane Von Furstenberg has against Forever 21 in regards to the this Chloe Medallion inspired dress. Whew, that’s a mouthful.

In the photos, the differences are minimal. Needless to say, after the law suit was filed, the dress could no longer be found on the racks at Forever 21.
Not that the law suit has had any effect on sales at Forever 21. Whenever I enter that store, with the shoppers ranging in age from twelve to women in their mid fifties (and to think I felt guilty about still shopping there, being that I am long past 21), the Forever fervor seems strongly in place.
Seems like I’m not the only one who can resist a bargain!
